It’s KJCT in Grand Junction, Colorado. We told you last week that the temperature would probably drop quickly soon. We think that sudden drop in temperature will happen this weekend.

Yet Another Record High…

On Monday, the temperature broke yet another new high. When it got to 84 degrees, the airport broke the old high of 83 degrees set in 1948. There have been fifteen records like that in the last nineteen days. On Tuesday, it will be very close to a record high.

On Wednesday and Thursday, it will start to cool down again, but not enough to break the record. Finally, the weather will cool down this weekend, which could mean that parts of Western Colorado get their first freeze of the season.

Some places might get their first freeze this weekend.

Today or tomorrow, at least some of the Western Slope will likely get its first freeze of the season. Granbury might not freeze, but it’s possible for the first frost of the season to happen. It’s more possible that it will freeze farther south, from Montrose to Cortez, and in the northwest of Colorado.

Less warm weather brought on by rain and mountain snow

This sudden, sharp drop in temperature comes after a storm system that will move through Colorado this weekend and the end of this week. Beginning Friday night, it will rain in the valleys across the Western Slope.

Over the mountains, snow will fall, and it might be hard to get around in the High Country for most of Saturday. In the hills, it will rain on and off again on Saturday. The rain will stop for the most part Saturday night.

The big news on Sunday is that the temperature will drop quickly. There may be some light rain that lasts for a while. The weather has been warm like late summer for the first half of October. That’s going to end.

The Next 24 Hours

It will be partly cloudy this evening. At 6, it will be in the mid- to upper-70s. At 8, it will be in the mid- to upper-60s and lower-70s. At 10, it will be in the low- to mid-60s. It will be partly cloudy to mostly clear the rest of the night. About 53 degrees will be the low temperature in Grand Junction by morning.

It will be 45 degrees in Montrose, 46 degrees in Delta, 41 degrees in Cortez, and 51 degrees in Moab. Tuesday will be mostly sunny and warm for this time of year. At 8 PM, it will be in the low to mid-50s. At noon, it will be in the upper 60s and lower 70s, and at 3 PM, it will be in the mid-to-upper 70s and lower 80s.

Around Grand Junction, the high temperature will be around 82 degrees. Around Montrose, it will be 75 degrees, and around Delta, it will be 80 degrees. Around Cortez, it will be 75 degrees, and around Moab, it will be 80 degrees.
